The Larchmont Larder, gourmet take out LA

image-4-2If I could cook, and had any restaurant sense I would have opened a gourmet take out place on the East side long ago. I am a big fan of Joan’s on Third, but we have needed a East side version for quite some time.  But since I don’t cook, I am delighted that The Larchmont Larder just opened on upper Larchmont Boulevard and has a scrumptious selection of foods to eat in or take out. The site is small, but charming, inside a little bungalow style house, and the menu changes weekly. The salmon fillets are delicious, as are the meatballs, and sandwiches. What is so great is that you can pick up a just a few things to supplement with dinner, some grilled vegetable sides, or salads by the pound, or pick up the whole meal, as they have a great selection of entrees that just need to be reheated. They also have delicious baked goods. It’s also a terrific stop for after school to pick up a little snack. My daughter loves the palmiers and the blueberry muffins. I find it difficult to find a good muffin, just the right consistancy, not too cakey, not too dry, and the blueberry muffins at The Larder are excellent. The owners have six children between them, so all the food is very kid friendly.

On Friday nights they offer soup, salad, and bread for four for $28.00, a cozy and economical way for the family to start the weekend.

They are working on a setting up  delivery service where you can order on-line in advance. Now that is convenience that busy LACityMoms will really love. Or you could even send dinner over to friends with a new baby.

Stop by and pick up some dinner or stay there for lunch. They are open Monday – Saturday from 10-7.
